So here’s my personal list of free or nearly-free (under $10) photo locations around Charleston, SC — perfect for wedding portraits, maternity sessions, or engagement announcements. All of these spots are public, accessible, and totally Yumex-approved!
🌈 1. Rainbow Row
This spot is a classic for a reason. Those colorful historic homes make every photo pop with personality.
💡 Yume’s Tip: Go early in the morning — fewer crowds, softer light, and that gentle pastel glow that makes skin tones look flawless.

🌴 2. White Point Garden & The Battery
Palmettos, stately homes, ocean views — this spot gives “timeless Charleston romance.” The mix of greenery and water reflections is unbeatable.
💡 Yume’s Tip: Plan for sunrise or sunset. The light bouncing off the water adds a natural golden filter — no editing magic needed.
Perfect for: Wedding portraits or maternity shoots with flowy dresses and classic vibes.
💦 3. Waterfront Park (Pineapple Fountain)
This park is like having five photo sets in one — the Pineapple Fountain, harbor walkways, benches, and shady trees. It’s perfect for mixing romantic and casual shots.
💡 Yume’s Tip: Go mid-morning after sunrise for crisp light, or golden hour for soft, romantic tones. Bring a blanket for cozy couple shots by the pier!

This is my go-to spot for maternity sessions! The huge oak trees, flower gardens, and winding paths make every angle gorgeous.

🌳 5. Angel Oak Tree
If you’re craving something dramatic, this ancient live oak (over 400 years old!) delivers. The sweeping branches frame couples beautifully — no backdrop needed.
